This weekend my grandson sat with us as we enjoyed dinner on the patio, and shared some of the most profound and humbling words I have ever heard. He told my husband,
“You are so lucky to have Nanny. She has the biggest and most beautiful heart.”
May they always see Jesus in me.
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God”
Matthew 5:8
New King James Version
“God In Me”
Who am I
but only me
Trying to be
Honest and true
To reflect an image
Of a loving God
Is all I aim to do
And if my walk
Can speak
Words of love
And Spirit seek
Then I know my aim is good
For where the dark succumbs to light
And breathless love
Shines so bright
It’s there that
they will see
God, not me
In all I strive to do
Even on my darkest days
And in my worldly ways
I stumble through deep love
Amidst my doubt
And look up to where
God boldly sits
And rise through
deafening sound
For it’s in this place
Of Mercy and Grace
I rise again to You
In the center of forgiven shame
And old ways
I’m not the same.
Thanks to love that came true
So what they see
is never me
It’s not my heart
Though my heart’s free.
It’s You.
When a child looks at me
And says words so kind I cry.
“You have the biggest heart,” they say.
No, my dear,
that’s God,
Not I.
