What a weekend!
I attended a beautiful breakfast with gorgeous women who love Jesus! The vibrant energy at our table was contagious. We shared in a shallow conversation about the weather, and then we went deeper and got vulnerable about life. It was two hours fueled by authentic fellowship and genuine connection.
For me, it was a step out when all I’ve done is stay in. The word ‘isolation’ was repeated over and over, reminding us that our hearts need that connection. We often say, “I’m fine,” even as we drown in situations of life.
Maybe we are fine because we have Jesus. But maybe part of His plan is placing specific people in our path for the season we are navigating.
I don’t trust people. Living life on guard and being consistently let down, I placed these walls around myself and decorated my cozy corner of isolation. In that safe space, no one can hurt me. No one can weaponize with shame, threats, or ridicule against me. The sharp tongue and dark heart of humanity have encouraged me to build those walls higher throughout my history.
For me, walking into that breakfast was removing one brick- a small step to tear down a secluded fortress. I deserve more- more community, more laughter, more connection. I may have to learn how to move for Jesus again, but I’m ready to try.
(Don’t get me started on the heart pounding championship basketball game my grandson had after the breakfast. Leading up to overtime was phenomenal, the loss-devastating 💔)
Have a blessed day!
Hey, how was your weekend?
