Five Minute Friday- Measure

I struggled to run with this one-measure.

Simplicity puts this word in the category of math, which I dislike, tremendously! We measure how much, how long, how far. That last one opened my mind. How far- how deep and how wide is the Father’s love?

I have wrestled with God over the past months. I have been unsure how to approach him, and unsteady when I do. I have tripped over my words and stayed silent on numerous occasions. I have pushed Him away, and drawn him close. The roller coaster I have placed myself on was never fun; it wasn’t even welcomed! Yet, He stood by me. He heard my cry through the silence. He loved me through the pain.

I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit.  Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.  And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Ephesians 3: 16-19 (NLT)

Living in this world can be a letdown. Our Father knew it would be that way. This is why we have the yearning we do. There are standards we live by, limits to the human capacity to love. We live among pain, sorrow, joy, anger, judgment, jealousy, malice- this list goes on. God’s love goes unmeasured, unending, and often times misunderstood and confusing. Where we are unsure and unwilling to go 100%, His love is determined and precise in nature. Measured in perfection- perfect love, perfect will, and perfect plan, God is abundant. A concept we will never fully comprehend.

May my heart slowly move with Him, and release the desire to distance myself based on circumstance. Heal the hurt and subside the pain. May I trust and follow Him in complete and unmeasurable surrender, all my days. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

I invite you to visit the website of Kate Motaung for full details and rules (well the one rule). http://katemotaung.com/five-minute-friday/

All are welcome and invited to take part in joining women around the world for Five Minute Friday! You will be given a prompt word, then simply take five minutes of your day to write a heartfelt, authentic message (no need to edit) using that word!

  1. This is beautiful, Lisa, and so authentic. “Distancing myself based on circumstance” — that sounds familiar. Somehow God’s immeasurable love always keeps Him close to us even when we go through that push-pull with Him. I’m grateful for that.

I'm someone who has always had a deep passion for literature and writing. From a young age, I've been captivated by the power of words and the way they can transport us to different worlds, open our minds to new ideas, and connect us with people and experiences that are distant from our own. Whether it's immersing myself in a classic novel, jotting down my thoughts in a journal, or crafting my own creative stories, writing and literature have always been an essential part of my life. I'm excited to continue exploring this rich and rewarding field, and to share my thoughts and insights with others who share my love for all things literary.
