Five Minute Friday-Privilege

Tonight is one of the biggest nights of my year. I will join thousands of volunteers around the world in hosting “Night to Shine” through the Tim Tebow Foundation. We have 90,000 guests registered and the parties have already begun! I saw Haiti kicked theirs off last night.

What is Night to Shine? It is a prom for people with special needs. An opportunity for all of us to show each beautiful soul how deeply loved they are. We will take this opportunity to remind each guest that God has a special and unique plan for their life and they matter! It is a privilege to be involved with this incredible evening.

The highlight of the night for me, aside from watching my pastor dance the night away with as many guests as possible, is watching the face of each guest light up as a crown or tiara is placed on their head. It is truly one of the most emotional moments of the evening.

We will welcome each one with a red carpet, paparazzi team, fan team, corsage, and live music. They will enjoy dinner, karaoke, picture booths, and that amazing Night to Shine backdrop. I will eventually have tears rolling down my cheeks, I will smile the entire night and enjoy every minute of running around and making sure all have what they need. It is my privilege to live in the moment of chaos on this night.

God is a good, good Father. He has led so many hearts into ministries that affect this world every single day.

Privilege-A special right, advantage, or immunity granted to one person or group of people.

It sounds so selfish.

I have to disagree. Privilege affords us to take responsibility- we are responsible to engage when we receive His call, responsible to participate in His plan, and responsible to share His beautiful love with every person we can. It is our mission, as a believing community. Pursuing God’s plan by actively engaging in this world for Christ is a true privilege, granted to each one of us.

I invite you to visit the website of Kate Motaung for full details and rules (well the one rule).

All are welcome and invited to take part in joining women around the world for Five Minute Friday! You will be given a prompt word, then simply take five minutes of your day to write a heartfelt, authentic message (no need to edit) using that word!

  1. That sounds amazing!!! (and even better than my prom! LOL). Giving back is always so much fun and really is a privilege. Sure, we get tired and worn out, but that outcome is always so worth it!!!
