Five Minute Friday-Promise… kept

Dear Jesus,

This fight is overwhelming and I am consumed. Once built for the battle, I am now weak. The constant stress has affected my health. My mind is empty and I have lost sight of you. A sense of helplessness infiltrates my thoughts. I feel compromised in my ability to cope. Fearless has been replaced with fearful. Confusion rips through my mind.

Lord, I have nothing left.

Still, your promises rain down on me with a sweet aroma, and I am free. Complete surrender is the only armor left before you arm me in your righteousness and power. In the depths of my sorrow, you hold me. I appreciate your steady comfort as I rise. Thank you for your promise to be here and to always lead the battle.
As I stumble between doubt and confidence, I know you are with me. Your Word will sustain my soul. The promise in our relationship is forever. I am blessed.

My five minutes are up. This was rough to write, honesty can be that way. The following scriptures were flowing through my mind as I talked to Jesus:

All scripture English Standard Version:

Exodus 14:14
The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.

Isaiah 41:10
fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 54:10
For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

Deuteronomy 31:8
It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you, he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.

James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

Joshua 1:9
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Psalm 18:3
I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies.

John 8:36
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

  2. Raw, transparent, and immensely moving.

    Lord, I’ve really nothing left,
    no cavalry on call,
and the last choice, not the best
    is deciding where to fall.
Will You know how I fought on
and how very much it hurt?
Will Your strong clean arms reach down
and lift me from the dirt?
Will You put this shattered soldier
    in a fireman’s carry
as my dying blood runs down Your shoulder,
    coud you pause, and tarry?
In Your glance at where I fought and died,
may I feel in You, a bit of pride?
