Five Minute Friday-Why?

The sun rose today.

Assured sign of life,

forward we endure.

Even when left with why.

The scene unfolds before us,

time and time again.

Words evade, as thoughts escape,

and pain is loudly and visibly displayed.

We will question motives, means and plans.

but there is no solace for hurt,

explanations seem futile,

‘Why’ can’t be explained,

in the darkness, in the heart of a man.

We cry out for change.

Wail on our knees for the lost.

Beg for the evil that scars the living

..to stop.

And I pray.

I will pray until my final breath,

for those who need the light.

I will pray unending love

breaks through the evil

that barricades their sight.

I will pray for those unknown,

to remain unknown in peace.

That the why’s inside their broken mind

Find answers and why’s shall cease.

“God find your way into those hearts and minds in desperate need.”

  1. Lisa, I so appreciate your poem. Sometimes prayer is the most effective way to combat the whys and the pain of this world. Thank you for this beautiful reminder to pray, even for those who inflict pain on innocent others.

I’m visiting from FMF. Nice to “meet” you!

I'm someone who has always had a deep passion for literature and writing. From a young age, I've been captivated by the power of words and the way they can transport us to different worlds, open our minds to new ideas, and connect us with people and experiences that are distant from our own. Whether it's immersing myself in a classic novel, jotting down my thoughts in a journal, or crafting my own creative stories, writing and literature have always been an essential part of my life. I'm excited to continue exploring this rich and rewarding field, and to share my thoughts and insights with others who share my love for all things literary.
