For some, the safe love is for their own heart and wellness- because the stress of their loved one’s addiction has caused true illness- heart disease, high blood pressure, mental illness due to-anxiety, drastic mood shifts, and mental sickness from the occasional life saved from overdose, right there in your living room or bathroom.
It’s never selfish to say enough. Especially with those people who have limited insight into boundaries and their ability to drain others. A tired soul will abandon living in the way God intended. Releasing is where we meet the calm peace in hope. We can see the light again and see past the pain to the possibilities of better tomorrows.
You are leaving the insanity of a situation that you’ve probably lived through for years. You are allowed to walk away and love from a distance. It’s the interaction that changes, not your love. They won’t like it, accept it, or understand. That’s not your problem or responsibility.

These are the facts of one dark world within a dark world. We can't hide the truth that sin exists within addiction as it does in corporate America, Washington DC, Christian homes, and the church.
Can you ever forget? .."Living with a loved one in addiction is consuming. You won't forget the violent outbursts. The terrifying image of your kid slumped over and passed out from shooting up, or binge drinking stays forever. All the days you worried if they were alive in the next room haunt you."..
