The challenge of forgiving is real. we don’t desire to live poisoned and enduring the outcome of unforgiveness. Holding this grudge sets off a firestorm within. Depression, anxiety, and life-altering stress can rapidly transform our thoughts, actions, and physical health.
Releasing is where we meet the calm peace in hope. We can see the light again and see past the pain to the possibilities of better tomorrows.
You are leaving the insanity of a situation that you’ve probably lived through for years. You are allowed to walk away and love from a distance. It’s the interaction that changes, not your love. They won’t like it, accept it, or understand. That’s not your problem or responsibility.
“I don’t like the words ‘give up’ because that’s not what family members of people with substance issues do. We stop being in the addiction. We stop assisting the addiction.” We don’t give up, we let go.
These are the facts of one dark world within a dark world. We can't hide the truth that sin exists within addiction as it does in corporate America, Washington DC, Christian homes, and the church.
