For a year, I cared for my grandchildren, was left in fear and worried for my daughter, and struggled with emotional and mental turmoil. While I worked to maintain sanity and normalcy, I was not well. Deeply depressed, I pushed on as true warriors do. My faith carried me through the silence. I longed to hear clear and precise instructions from God, but all I ever received was, “Keep going.” Not quite the inspirational message I hoped for.
We live in a world that circulates pain in various ways. If all I had to focus on were things of this world, how dark and depressing would living be? There is good here, we see it daily. Moreover, good is far more rampant than the bad we encounter daily in the news world. Perhaps it is the bombardment of the news, now at our fingertips, that overwhelms us.
Evil loves an overwhelmed heart.
Through the difficulties in the past year, there were many wonderful and beautiful moments. It became hard to focus on those moments when the hurt and disappointments spoke loud and appeared larger in my sight and heart.
It is our responsibility to remain focused on what matters-Jesus. Satan wants us to forget He is there. Satan has a desire to draw us away from the comfort, support, and perfect love of Christ. He knows if we slowly retreat into our feelings and fears, we create our own distance from the Savior. Distance is the perfect entry to our mind, and if he can get to our mind and our thoughts, he will attempt to change our heart.
Make this a time of intentional focus on being well. In fact, let the word permeate deep into your soul.
I invite you to visit the website of Kate Motaung for full details and rules (well the one rule). http://katemotaung.com/five-minute-friday/
All are welcome and invited to take part in joining women around the world for Five Minute Friday! You will be given a prompt word, then simply take five minutes of your day to write a heartfelt, authentic message (no need to edit) using that word!
Thank-you for sharing your heart! I love this advice: ” let the word permeate deep into your soul.” I’m visiting from FMF.

Wonderful, faith-filled post, and a great choice for music!
Though cancer overwhelms my body,
I have just begun this fight.
Though Satan tries his work is shoddy
and he will not bring the night.
The outcome doesn’t really matter,
though I would prefer to live;
even though my frame’s in tatters
there is much I can still give.
I can witness to His blessings
which by so much outweigh the pain,
and with a praising tongue confessing
all the good that shall remain.
And with clear bright heart I tell,
though I’m dying, it is well.
