You are leaving the insanity of a situation that you’ve probably lived through for years. You are allowed to walk away and love from a distance. It’s the interaction that changes, not your love. They won’t like it, accept it, or understand. That’s not your problem or responsibility.
I’m thinking many serial killers hide behind something, including faith! There was no comfort in a cross and a Bible in his cab.
“I don’t like the words ‘give up’ because that’s not what family members of people with substance issues do. We stop being in the addiction. We stop assisting the addiction.” We don’t give up, we let go.
“Lord, help me live in your joy, peace, and love and not in the sorrows of this world.”
People rely on themselves for what only God provides, and it shows. We have entire courses to teach people how to be all about themselves! Self love sounds sufficient and enough.
How does one survive the war? They never engage in the battle. Step away from the friction and choose to be separate and live.
I am a parent of an adult loved one battling substance use. For years I fought alongside, tried to motivate, and lent help in any way I could. I have paid bills- sometimes for months, I have posted bail, bought groceries, clothes, and other items. I opened my home in hopes of change. But the desire for change was outplayed by the desire to be high.
.This story chronicles prejudice and shunning of a woman by society, but within these verses the character of Jesus is revealed. The important message shows Jesus as loving and accepting of people like us.
Another blindfold melts away. For all I can see, there are still layers to go. In my hurting heart, it feels bigger than my mind can grasp. I didn't fail my children, but I cannot lie, my church is hard truth statement is dark.
After a decade, I have awakened to the true meaning of letting go and allowing God to work. He shows my loved one his tender mercy daily, wrapping her safety in the deadliest scenarios. It is evident to everyone but her. He loves us with a powerful love that seems foreign and unattainable. Yet, there she is-alive and healing.
