Poetry- If I Could Write

I want to write,

but words elude.

Empty canvas

Torn in two.

To pen the story

To tell the tale

A dream come,

But my words fail.

To penetrate the barrier

And jump the wall.

To brighten a dull page

I’ve got nothing at all.

This is the numb

Of hurt and pain.

The silent repetition

Of repeating shame.

To translate emotion

Into words on a page

To perfectly describe

The colorful rage

Or emphasize the sorrow

Swimming among the tears.

The internal battle,

Broken edges seared.

I want to write

But words elude.

Still hopeful intent

To write for you.
