Five Minute Friday-Simplify

We just tore down the church Christmas decorations. My lobby is back to its nice, tidy simplified self, and I am a happy camper. I love to see the beautiful décor during the season, but I begin to feel cluttered and claustrophobic before it all comes down.

I guess I will have to admit life itself feels that way at times. Combine a busy schedule with daily stress and it happens to all of us. Mentally, I begin to feel cluttered and claustrophobic. The result for me usually resembles something of a hermit not wanting to leave her home. To call it ‘simplify’ is an understatement.

Lord here my cry, “There has to be a balance!”

Living in the 21st century is amazing. There are so many technological advances; our children will never appreciate what they have. With those advances have come some issues such as over stimulation, over indulging on material items we do not need, but feel we must have simply because we want. It has all accumulated and the majority of it sits in the palm of our hand- ready for our attention.

All these commodities have become necessities, but only one thing is necessary:

Luke 10: 41-42 But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”

I could add on here. I could put some bloggers Top 10 list together of how to simplify life, but Jesus said it best, as he always does. Choose the good portion, and it will not be taken away from you.

We will leave it right there.

I invite you to visit the website of Kate Motaung for full details and rules (well the one rule).

  1. “….Jesus said it best, as he always does. Choose the good portion, and it will not be taken away from you.” So good! Clutter stresses me out so you’d think my home was always orderly. Ha! It takes discipline to keep things in their places and keep myself at Jesus’ feet. Thanks for the motivation to clear away anything that blocks my view of my Savior.

I'm someone who has always had a deep passion for literature and writing. From a young age, I've been captivated by the power of words and the way they can transport us to different worlds, open our minds to new ideas, and connect us with people and experiences that are distant from our own. Whether it's immersing myself in a classic novel, jotting down my thoughts in a journal, or crafting my own creative stories, writing and literature have always been an essential part of my life. I'm excited to continue exploring this rich and rewarding field, and to share my thoughts and insights with others who share my love for all things literary.
