He met people in their sin, forgave and instructed them to stop. He called out their truth and showed deep love for their soul through His mercy. I can’t think of one example where he chased them down without accountability and self-denial.
Being right in our feelings is not being righteous to God.
In 2021, more than 46 million people in the United States aged 12 or older had at least one substance use disorder, and only 6.3% had received treatment. Moreover, people who use drugs are facing an increasingly dangerous drug supply, now often tainted with fentanyl. Approximately 107,000 people died of drug overdoses in 2021, and 37% of these deaths involved simultaneous exposure to both opioids and stimulant drugs. Drug use and addiction represent a public health crisis, characterized by high social, emotional, and financial costs to families, communities, and society.
We are not the solution- no matter what society puts on us, or not even the burning desire within our own heart.
My goal was to shine a light on your strengths, but all I did was elevate mine. By playing your offense and defense, I allowed you to sit out. I was active in the game while you played Russian roulette on the bench.
Cancer sucks.
This Christian momma is tired- but here sits another experience in the travels of addiction. I learned it can’t be me, I can’t save, fix, or carry the weight of an addiction I don’t have.
You worked every angle to get your way. We worked every opportunity to help you live.
The best question I read was, “Where do I end and the other person begins?”
In hoping to help her brother, my daughter once told me, “Take him to the graveyard and force him to pick his plot. Because it’s either death, jail, or treatment.”
