Daily Prompt: How have you adapted to the changes brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic?

Oh, Covid-19, how I hate you!

What a baffling mess 2020 turned into. At first, we all did our part. Stay home, distance for a couple of weeks. I don’t believe people went rogue until two weeks turned into four, and a month became a year; before we knew it, threats echoed from the chambers and hostilities began.

How have I adapted to Covid-19? It is a fair question.

The only answer I have is very little. I accept that people wear masks while walking outside for exercise. I’ve accepted, baffled, that people drive alone in their cars, with a mask over their mouths and noses. I no longer went to work with my bag of medications. For the first time in my life, I stayed home when sick. Yes, we used to show up rain or shine, sniffles, coughing, fevered up, ready to work and get the job done. For this change, I am thankful. Why did I ever think I needed to do that? <insert hand on head emoji here>

Covid changed my perception of government, news, and many friends and family. I came to understand that we can no longer agree to disagree. The disgruntled mentality has trickled into every arena of modern society. During COVID, we experienced the George Floyd tragedy. When we blinked, it was suddenly acceptable to gather without six feet of distance to destroy neighborhoods and cities. We make no sense.

Covid came from unsecured research and introduced itself to the world and now we have another illness to endure. I adapted by going about my life, aware that I could get pneumonia again. I might get another respiratory illness that lands me in a hospital. I don’t take a test for every runny nose or cough. I don’t rush to the doctors. In fact, I visit the docs less frequently since having Covid.

The virus exposed human failure on a grand scale. Humanity must change and evolve for peace to ever infiltrate our ranks. We are a violent and angry species that left gratitude behind. The biblical principles of the fruit of the Spirit cry out for attention and implementation.

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Imagine a world that embraced these timeless attributes during a crisis such as Covid-19. No, we remain surrounded by senseless acts of violence, hatred, and selfishness. A man walking down a street and nailing a young lady in the face with his elbow- just because. A disturbed man cutting the throat of an innocent woman on a train, or another incident of a woman set on fire. Women acting foolishly as they brawl it out on a beach. Never tell me evil isn’t the problem.

It’s as though we’ve taken the darkest points of our history and recreated them in reverse. Reverse peace, reverse hate, reverse racism, reverse everything. Progress has done nothing but lead to regress on many levels.

Life in 2026 is sad. I am embarrassed and deeply concerned. However, I am not worried.

I know in whom I believe and where my eternity lies. Covid helped me to adapt to the truth I’ve spoken but maybe didn’t fully realize in the distant past. We have a far greater illness that we see and must fight every day- evil. Tainted are the hearts and minds of humanity by the darkness of one who longs to kill and destroy. He comes dressed as someone you want to invite in. He speaks to your desires as a friend.

When he has you where he wants you, the distance between God and us is already immeasurable. Sucked in by the greatest lie ever told- self over anything else, the world is in crisis. Power, greed, and lies abound.

Covid-19 was a moment in time that looks like something that brought us together– a virus that killed (really?)

In the aftermath, we clearly see that its accomplishment was to divide. How do you adapt to this nonsense? Imagine adjusting our attitudes, reactions, goals, and connections. Adapt to a new you. Reflect on your personal journey, and make the proper corrections that bring true light and love to the world around you. We can’t adapt to this new environment of darkness; we must change it.

Make this the norm for society in 2026. Protest that. Social media a message of hope and awareness. Share Jesus and the way.
