Poetry – Alone

You don’t know

The hidden pain

Behind closed doors

The things I never say no more.

You won’t understand

My longest night

And withered hope

Kept out of sight.

You see what I choose

Or maybe what you choose,

Far from reality and forbidden truth.

Closed curtains,

cover the windows of my heart.

Where silent screams start.

And peace escapes my soul.

Still, I press on.

I march alone.

Whether they see or not.

I rally with determination,

a daughter of God.

In fierce fire

I lead the flames.

And win the battle

In life’s games.

With unexplained strength,

I go.

But you don’t know.

You will never see.

You are safe

From the ravaged me.
