Poetry- Boundaries

Stay away.

Build the wall.

A heart afraid, afraid to fall.

And there are reasons to run,

Reasons to hide.

There are answers for the loss inside.

She won’t share.

Silent she’ll stay.

Hidden behind the face of brave.

Anonymously moving,

Bricks cleverly placed.

To hide the bruising, mistaken disgrace.

She’ll smile a lie,

and grin away the truth.

In a shattered display,

disguised for you.

So you can walk on by,

or smile back but never know

how high her bricks go.

The boundaries erected,

Safe place to be.

Hide the selected pieces

Of what she doesn’t want you to see.
