Poetry- Among the Stars

We walk along the bottom
Looking up from where we are
Up seems so distant
Somewhere among the stars
And dream of better..
Better days
Better ways
Better thoughts…
Tired from the battles
In this world
we’ve fought
And we stumble
here and there
Searching
Everywhere
For answers that elude
Reasons why,
answers for meaning,
clarity in truth
We assume
it’s out of our reach
Beyond our dream
Further than our eyes
Dare to see
Do we have the means
To escape?
To leave this desert place.
To climb and climb,
From fear to trust
We move to gain.
Beyond the valley
Beyond the shame.
And we rise.
From down below,
Where once we stood
We now know
Walk from where we are
As we climb to reach
Somewhere among the stars
