Daily Prompt- May 20, 2024

How do you feel about cold weather?

I live in Colorado. My home is currently on the market. We’ve had seven showings in seven days. The cold chased us away. But so have the politics, overbuilding, horrendous drive up the mountain, costs of everything. What about the charge for plastic grocery bags we pay to carry our plastic-wrapped groceries? We are through with Colorado. What nonsense and utter stupidity.

Experiencing a mild winter, people enjoy the bipolar climate. If you want to ski, head west. Interested in dry ground, stay east. Enjoy both in one day when you drive west early and east late.

A fan of warmth, you will find me bundled up by a cozy fire when the temperatures drop. I take offense to the shimmering sunlight upon fallen snow. I prefer flip flops with my sunshine; and a barbecue on the grill. However, this is Colorado and snow never stops grill time.

I miss the gentle ocean breeze and welcoming heat, even in August. Curious, I wonder if my aching bones convinced my mind to move- a changing barometer ushered in the deepest pains. Groaning, I close my eyes and vision warm temperatures and zero pain.

I rarely complain about the weather. I choose to live here. I’m a sit-down and shut-up kind of person. So, this question is appreciated and welcomed! This prompt provides a place to whine and hate. I’m sitting here shaking my head at myself. “Do you really need to whine?”

Perhaps not. But you asked the question. My writing space belongs to me. With a nasal voice and crossed arms, I whine through my answer.

I hate the cold weather. Without hesitation or apologies.

Moving on.

I'm someone who has always had a deep passion for literature and writing. From a young age, I've been captivated by the power of words and the way they can transport us to different worlds, open our minds to new ideas, and connect us with people and experiences that are distant from our own. Whether it's immersing myself in a classic novel, jotting down my thoughts in a journal, or crafting my own creative stories, writing and literature have always been an essential part of my life. I'm excited to continue exploring this rich and rewarding field, and to share my thoughts and insights with others who share my love for all things literary.
