What are your favorite animals?
I love most animals. I believe they deserve life just as every human does. Animals bring joy to those who see past themselves. My pets are a true blessing.
I once worked at the renowned Wild Animal Sanctuary. A large carnivore sanctuary near Denver, CO. Driving into work daily to see lions, tigers, bears, and other animals was a gift. Being a rescue mission to the captive wildlife crisis, we saw the worst of the worst in animal cruelty. However, the mesmerizing stories of survival and renewed spirit helped you move forward. My favorite animal was the grizzly bear. Bears have always held a special place in my heart.
Bears represent strength and confidence. Some say the spirit of the bear is a fierce guardian. I am a fierce guardian myself; perhaps that’s our connection. If spirit animals exist, I call mine a momma grizzly.
Still, it is the comfort of my pets that makes them my favorite. Those sweet faces jump in excitement when I return home. The personalities that we embrace, whether obnoxious and rowdy or independent and calm, with a side of attitude, these two pups are much like our children.
Throwing it in for fun, I confirm my least favorite animal is a snake. There’s something about the slithering creature that makes me fearful. Is it biblical truth? Maybe. I can’t stand to see them killed; I prefer a pleasant mile or more relocation. For the record, I resettle spiders, as well.
I can’t be the only one, right?
