A simple life
in quiet calm
and simple hearts
that love hard.
sounds of goats
and noisy sheep
disturb the rhythm
of peaceful sleep.
tractors roar
and dust flies high
as we settle away
from busy life.
kids peddle bikes,
jump in creeks,
and play till dark
heard, unseen.
we watch eastern
sunrises
and
still for sunset views
in simple life abandon
appreciate the hues.
gather around bonfires
play guitar,
and shoot guns.
gone is city hustle
the simple life won.
remodel old houses,
make them look new.
men are men in my life
doin what men do.
the city in me remains
in small, subtle ways.
but gone is the need
for force-fed, busy days.
I’m still not keen on dirt,
still hate to cook.
I’m not your country lady,
still, I’m hooked.
Window gazing,
into the neighbor’s house.
Seems silly to me,
I’d rather see a cow.
The open space
is better,
than jammed city blocks.
Cookie-cutter houses
and traffic tied in knots.
I prefer this quiet life,
simple it may be.
Gratitude for all
the comforts it offers me.

Beautiful 💕
