Five Minute Friday-Testimony

God has done amazing things to bring his children back to Him.

There is the young lady who suffered child sexual abuse and ran from one man’s arms to the next searching for love. One day, she turned and saw the open arms of her Savior, and plunged right in.

There was the person who suffered from severe depression their entire life, and one day looked up from the darkest cavern. The light of Christ shone down so bright, they climbed to freedom and never looked back.

A fearful mother, sitting day and night at the bedside of her dying teenage son, read scriptures, held his hand, and prayed with him. What the doctors called a miracle became a beautiful story of a God who saves.

I remember the young mom how had collapsed on her living room floor grasping at carpet strands. She had just cut her wrists. Her will to go on evaporated like her marriage. God would speak a bold truth to her that night, and she would live to share the story.

I remember the family who watched as the young man slipped into a coma following a brain injury. By his side was his young fiancee, his mother, his father, his brothers and sisters, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. For 14 hours they would fill the waiting room during the surgery, praying together. The fiancee sat alone, crying in unbelief. The words critical condition stunned her into silence. Two weeks later he would wake up and have a complete loss of his left side, and a scrambled memory. The young fiancee, shuffled to the side by the parents, was no longer relevant. It would take five years and an encounter with God to recover. She would fight feelings of belonging for years to come. Jesus never gives up, and she speaks to the grace and love of a God who fiercely protected her into knowing she belongs.

A testimony points to the Almighty and glorifies his name. It is the story of his redemptive power, healing comfort, and miraculous divine intervention in the lives of those who choose to see. Our story of where we were and where He brings us to is powerful and necessary. I have an urgent need to share my testimony so others have the opportunity to encounter Jesus and to trust their entire life to Him.

Each story you just read is a small piece of my testimony to this point in my life. There is no one moment, one experience. Each one points to a God of mercy, forgiveness, grace, and love. God be with you and may we treasure the life we live in Christ, and share the gospel story with the world.

  1. I think the life that I have led
was not one you would have wanted.
I stood in mass graves of the dead,
    and have thus been haunted.
We had to find forensic truth
    to find the perpetrators.
Youngsters, who in the flush of youth
had been taught to be the haters.
And then, what will justice need?
    The apples fell, so far from tree;
to what demand does virtue feed?
    And thus, rule 303.
There is, perhaps, one big tent,
    but I protect the innocent.
