Five Minute Friday- Hospitality

One word, five minutes, GO!

I stink at hospitality. I may be one of the worst. (Or, do I?)

I do not like entertaining, and consider my space safe and perfect for me. This probably comes from the abuse of my background, however, that can’t be an excuse forever. It is not that I don’t acknowledge this low point in my personality. I do! When I try to move forward, I experience anxiety.

“Will I be able to provide what is needed?” “Is my home set up for this?” “Can I cook something they will like?” I question and question until I question myself out of the endeavor and resign to give up this worthwhile and needed gift. I feel confidant to hand over a cash donation and allow others to be the hospitable hosts with the most.

While I feel insignificant and insufficient when it comes to this important topic, I remember the many important aspects of hospitality. First, it is intentional kindness in action, doing something for another because we want to, not because we have to. Next, hospitality is meant for all and there are no boundaries. Examples include the smallest gesture to the large ones, and we are all capable of such things. When we show this love, kindness, and giving nature we share our heart. When we share our heart, others experience it and ‘pay it forward’. This creates a bond that connects us all and joins us in love.

So while I fail at entertaining, I learned long ago that there are many ways to be a light of hospitality, and I enjoy taking part in all of them. (stop)

I invite you to visit the website of Kate Motaung for full details and rules when taking part in Five Minute Friday. (well the one rule). http://katemotaung.com/five-minute-friday/

  1. I no longer give a damn
    what people think about my home.
    The way I live is what I am,
    no need to blind-atone.
    I’ve taken in the dogs, outcast
    by our kind society;
    within these walls, we will stand fast
    because, here, is life’s victory.
    Please, drop in, you’re welcome here
    but you may be sitting on the floor.
    Crack a can of nice warm beer;
    if you want, we have some more.
    It ain’t the Ritz, but here I gloat:
    this is God’s love-lifeboat.

I'm someone who has always had a deep passion for literature and writing. From a young age, I've been captivated by the power of words and the way they can transport us to different worlds, open our minds to new ideas, and connect us with people and experiences that are distant from our own. Whether it's immersing myself in a classic novel, jotting down my thoughts in a journal, or crafting my own creative stories, writing and literature have always been an essential part of my life. I'm excited to continue exploring this rich and rewarding field, and to share my thoughts and insights with others who share my love for all things literary.
